We are a faith-based volleyball club with a keen focus on two things: teaching and recruiting. What does this mean for your player? Faith-based: We do not expect our players to be of similar faiths or religious backgrounds. In fact, we think our club is a stronger representation of our Christian values because we have players of all faiths and beliefs. We do, however, expect all of our players to respect and embrace our club values and serve as role models of sportsmanship, fair play, discipline, and integrity. We believe that sports can enrich the social dimension of human life. Learning how to play as a team member shifts the focus from “me” to “we.” Rather than individual success, the importance of contributing to a group effort is emphasized. Being part of a team sport also offers our players opportunities to form life-long friendships based on similar interests. We also believe that through sports, we can learn important values for life. Learning the rules of the game, fostering respect for the values of honesty, integrity, and fair play, along with developing skills to deal with adversity on the volleyball court, offer potential for positive formation of life skills in other […]

Hello Arizona Volleyball Friends! This is Sadie Weiss, I am 10 years old and it’s been a few weeks since my last blog about my Future Stars Volleyball Season. To be exact, it’s been 5 weeks since my first game, and in that time my team “the Hurricanes” have won 4 games and lost only 2. I think our team is pretty good! I have been practicing hard with my team every Tuesday and Thursday and I even practice at home, although my Daddy-o says I don’t do it enough… He’s wants me to be the best I can be. “I believe HARD WORK, PAYS OFF”. Last week, I put in some extra work and went to a very special Friday practice with special guest SIERRA THOMPSON from the University of Arizona. She was super cool “for being a Wildcat”, and she helped me A LOT! I wore my ASU Sun Devil shirt just for her!!! I asked her to take a picture with me and she ran at first but was still nice enough and took a picture with this little Sun Devil. Playoffs start next week and I am soooooooo excited for my first ever playoffs. I am […]

Hello Everyone this is Sadie Weiss and I am 10 years old and I play volleyball for FUTURE STARS WOOT WOOT! This is my second blog about my first season at Future Stars Volleyball! My mom received an email today with my volleyball practice schedule. I am excited to see where and when my practices are. I practice every Tuesday and Thursday at Diamond Canyon from 7p to 8p. Today is my first REAL practice! We start practice with warm up bumps and sets in a circle. To start practice coach Stacy talked to all the players about basically what we going to do, and expect during the season. The things I remember the most are no walking on the court, we always clap it up because it creates energy, and you always reply “YES COACH” so coach knows you are paying attention. In the Tuesday practice we learned how to bump the ball, the belly drill ( this drill was the best ), and the we practiced serving over the net. In Thursday practice I got there early because it’s so fun. The drills we did were sets ( are when you are close to the net and hit […]
I have been waiting for December 2nd to come for a long, long time. Why? I will tell you. Hi, my name is Sadie Weiss, and I am 10 years old. I have been practicing at home almost every day so I can be good for volleyball when the season starts at FUTURE STARS – WOOT WOOT. I am going to be writing once a week about my season at Future Stars. I think the season lasts about 8 weeks. I hope you are as excited as I am!!! Where should I start? My Dreams? My Goals? Well, I want to be able to spike the ball on my brothers face, but my mom said that is not a real goal. BUT I am very serious about working hard to get a scholarship at ASU. My amazing daddy took me to one of their games, and it was so much fun to watch those girls on the court. They definitely rock. Anyway, today is December 2nd and I was super excited but now I am very nervous because they are having team selection. When I first got there we warmed up with serves. Before we did the drills the coaches were talking to the […]

Motivational or inspirational quotes are one way to plant the right seeds in a youth athlete’s mind, and maybe create some “mental toughness”. Mental toughness is a measure of individual resilience and confidence that may predict success in sport, education and the workplace. In the context of sports training, in the context of a set of attributes that allow a person to become a better athlete and able to cope difficult training and difficult competitive situations and emerge without losing confidence. In recent decades, the term has been commonly used by coaches, sport psychologists, sports commentators, and business leaders. “Mental toughness” is frequently used colloquially to refer to any set of positive attributes that helps a person to cope with difficult situations. Coaches and sport commentators freely use the term mental toughness to describe the mental state of athletes who persevere through difficult sport circumstances to succeed. Here are some motivational quotes from famous mentally tough coaches and athletes. “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” – unknown “Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.” – John Wooden “I believe in myself.” – Muhammad Ali “Winning takes talent; to repeat takes character.” […]

My First Volleyball Camp Experience at LiveWire Coach Kelly was awesome!!! By Sadie Weiss | 10 Years Old | Phoenix, Arizona I was so excited when I woke up this morning, first thing I put on my outfit that I thought would be good for volleyball. On the drive to LiveWire I felt like I was going to do amazing, even though my brother kept being a pest, I was focused. Once I got to LiveWire I thought the place sooo huge and fantastic. There were a lot of older girls there working hard and looked really good. My dad checked me in and I got to meet my coaches!!! “COACH KELLY AND NICOLE WERE SO NICE AND I KNEW THEY WERE GONNA HELP ME GET GOOD AT VOLLEYBALL.” Then we practiced a bunch of fun drills for an hour. First the coaches taught us the proper stance while waiting for the ball to come, then how to hit the ball properly. The drill I liked the best is when we got to practice serving. I think I did pretty good, the coach gave me a lot of tips and we did it over and over. Coach Kelly said I did […]
